Before the crutial last game of the season, to determine who gets into the playoffs in the highly competitive eastern conference, we sat down with the Doh!-master, Coach Nielsen, who graciously gave us a few minutes of his busy schedule.
First question was on this year compared to last year:
"Obviously, this year, the whole team has had a change to adjust to the Klamphugger. Everyone is really pitching in, and doing their best for the team ... I just wished they would try following my game plan just once ..."
On the midseason slump, with a five game loosing streak:
"That was tough to go through. Luckilly our fans were really supportive. They kept on sending me encouraging gifts, like little dolls. They werent really bubble heads, but they definitely had my name on them. I had to keep them away from kids, because of the pins and all. But still, it's the thought that counts!"
On the late season push, to get into the playoffs, for the first time since the 2011/2012 season:
"Amazing performance from the guys! Simply amazing! To think we have an actual shot at getting to the post season, when we were 5-10 just a few weeks ago. Not to take anything away from the western conference, but I honestly think this could only ever have happened in the East. It just shows how competitive this conference is."
On the rumours of a pending refurbishing of the team colors and logo:
"At the end of the regular season, we will be revealing our brand new brand! Stay tuned!"
