Portland vs. Boston - Summer League 2007

Greg Oden
Solid offensive potential and excellent defensive potential. A bit mechanical on offense, but not enough to dampen expectations. Will defend the hoop. Great body with length and strength. Changes ends in a hurry. Good hands. Smart shot-blocker who taps blocks to team-mates. Struggles with free-throws, but that could be transition from left to right hand after injury in freshman year. Not a great game, but will put it together.

Martell Webster
Solid, soft shot with great range. Little game off the dribble and mediocre ballhandling. Needs someone to create for him to get shots. Solid athlete, if not cat-quick laterally. Good leaper. Good body, but not an imposing defender. Needs killer-instinct. A Dale Ellis-type,

Rajon Rondo
Super-quick. A full-court presence defensively. Plays at one speed, full-speed. Little change of speed. Zooms along. Great defender, with lightning-quick hand. Can be bodied in the post. Does not look to create offence for himself. Not a scorer by instinct. Great penetrator, but will look to pass, not to shoot.

LaMarcus Aldridge
The goods on offence and defence. Super-athletic. Can play inside and out offensively. Good range on jumper and almost automatic from the elbow extended. Has several moves in the post, including a good jump-hook. Good shot-blocker with quick hands and feet. Plays smart and with his hands up. Getting bigger, but still needs a few pounds. A future All-Star.

Sergio Rodriquez
Great ballhandler with great change of speed and direction. Instinctive passer who plays with his head up. Has the ball on a string and never kills the dribble. A bit too adventruous and somewhat turnover-prone. Needs to be more disciplined to play major minutes. Has range on jumper and a good floater going to the hoop. Average - at best - defender who might need a bit of bulk.

Leon Powe
Tough and feakishly strong, but undersized power forward. No chance of playing extended minutes at the small forward spot. Vice-like hands and a strong rebounder. Quick leaper. Has post-moves, but will need to play with intensity to earn a spot in someone's rotation. Battled Oden entire game.

Gerald Green
Great athlete who relies too much on his athleticism. Has skills, but will need to put things together. Good, if not excellent jump-shooter. Unwilling passer and so-so defender. Super-quick and a freakish leaper. Lightning-fast first step.

Glen Davis
A trimmer and slimmer Big Baby. Davis still struggles to get off the floor, but has quick enough feet, if not speed in the open court. Good defender in the post. Will need to lose more weight to be a force on the boards.

Taurean Green
Old-school floor-general. Good passer and hard-working defender. Lacks top-of-the-line speed, but quick enough to get by. Not a volume assist-man, and an average offensive player. At best, a third point guard.

Gabe Pruitt
Opportunistic scorer with some range and dipsy-doo moves off the dribble.

Allan Ray
One-trick pony. Will look for the long bomb, but not a good enough point guard to get by at his size. Undersized on the defensive end.

Joel Freeland
Good athlete with some skills. Has some toughness. Will contend shots. Does not look scared nor completely out of place. Quick leaper. has some size. Inexperienced and needs some more smarts, but could have some potential.
